The story of paragon AG began in 1988 when Klaus Dieter Frers founded paragon electronic GmbH in the freight depot of the former train station at Delbruck, near Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia. In its early years, paragon profited from the boom in electronics subcontracting.
The business grew so quickly that it already needed new quarters in Delbruck one year later in 1989. With German unification came the takeover of the robotron plant in Zella-Mehlis, giving the company a production facility in Thuringia. Pivotal points in the continuing history of the company were the entry into the automotive electronics sector and its listing on the stock exchange.
